Washed Out and Toro Y Moi
Tech, I was going to tell you about these two bands in a text message, but then I realized I made this website for that.
Washed Out - Life of Leisure:

And,
Toro Y Moi - Causers of This:

Found out about both these bands from satelite radio. Maybe youve already heard em, I don’t know.

Sunset Rubdown & A Sunny Day In Glasgow
O hai! While I’m certainly not a Bill Callahan fan, I did kinda dig on Califone. Their new album is pretty good too.
I found this Sunset Rubdown album earlier this year, but I didn’t get a chance to listen to it until recently because I was moving. It’s nothing groundbreaking, but I really, really like it. It’s their most recent album (2009) and it’s called “Dragonslayer.” And while it’s definitely for more Summer-y weather, it’s still really good indie rock.

A Sunny Day In Glasgow is from Philadelphia. This album is called “Ashes Grammar” and it came out recently. It’s real shoegaze-y and dreamy and much more suitable for fall and winter weather. I hope you like it as much as I do!

2 years agoCalifone, Bill Callahan
No posts for a while, thought I would share what seems fitting for the changing weather. This post gets real singer/song writery though, so Tech just check back later.
No one has ever told me about this band, so I feel like Ive found some weird treasure; this is Califone’s 2006 album ‘Roots and Crowns’. Its good, really good - which is why Im posting it - but the album artwork is real bad, sorry.

Also, I’ve never listened to this album, but Ive been told It’s up my alley. I heard the track ‘Sycamore’ on the radio today and was reminded to give it a listen. It’s Bill Callahan’s ‘Woke on a Whale Heart’ from 2007, the album artwork is neat.

2 years agoBrian Wilson is playing in my town, and some new music about your town.
Alright! Thanks for posting stuff everyone! Im loving Dan Friel and the new Yakuza stuff, but haven’t checked out the other things yet.
I did, however, just find out Brian Wilson is playing here in Morgantown in November. It’s noteworthy. Im buying my ticket in the next week probably.
As far as music goes, here’s an album I haven’t even heard yet, but the second track on it is called ‘Kettering’ which is enough to make me suggest it. Also, pitchfork gave it ‘Best New Music’ today. FINE. I’ll listen.

This is YHA’s second album. It’ll be released on 8/14/09 at a show in Dayton, but I thought I’d give you kids in West Virginia the chance to get yer mitts on it now since you probably can’t make it out to Dayton for the show. It’s Squids Eye Records’ finest! More dense and more chip-tuney than their first album. Sic as all get out!

I will never let another sendspace upload go to waste… do you guys care if there are also more experimental type albums? I have a few really cool dance type records that I want to share as well.
This Omar Souleyman is from Syria, and known to the US through the record label Sublime Frequencies. Check out all the insane electronic drum solo, haha…

I just saw this guy live a few days ago, opening for Black Moth Super Rainbow. He’s one of the members of the band Parts And Labor. Anyway, as much as I like Black Moth Super Rainbow, Dan Friel stole the show. So I went and found his most recent album “Ghost Town” (2008). It’s real good noise pop. Lots of distorted keyboards. Hope you enjoy it!

2 years ago2x: french horn rebellion and foreign born
“French Horn Rebellion is a disco-electro-rock brother duo from Milwaukee, WI. They currently reside in Brooklyn, NY. The band was started because Robert tried to convince other people to play french horn, but was frustrated when nobody wanted to.” -from their last.fm profile
album - self titled - http://www.mediafire.com/?4nnizngmzct

foreign born is kinda like born ruffians, but maybe stronger vocals…maybe that’s not the right word…i really like the vocals for born ruffians. whatever. i like this too. i’m not good at describing music, that’s why i copied and pasted from last.fm up above. ha. anyway, with no further ado, foreign born:

Black Rice is the highlight on this album but the cover artwork is the reason I listened to it. Link down below
